Step 4:

To create the possibility of more than 1000 categories, Dewey added the decimal point. Now the number could be as precise a number as it needed to be to identify very, very specific categories. For example:
 

 

Number General Category
793 Indoor games & amusements
793.7 Mental puzzles (one kind of game)
793.75 Mental puzzles using math (one kind of mental puzzle)
793.8 Magic (one kind of game)
793.83 Card tricks (one kind of magic)
