Searching by Subject Headings
K-4
How to Begin: Subject Search
A subject search can be used when more information is needed on a topic.
- Choose a search engine like Google or
Yahooligans.
- Look at the subject
headings and match the information you want to one of the subjects
listed.
- Then to narrow your search, continue to match the subject headings until you find the articles(s) that has the information you need.
Go to Yahooligans!and practice a subject search.
NOTE: This same process to narrow your topic using subject headings is used in the Student Research Center and KidSearch resources in the Resources box to the right of this. When you do a search, Subject Headings will appear on the left side of your results list.
